The Juggler

The Juggler received a Silver Book Award from the Midwest Independent Publishers Association (MIPA)

Imagine a young farmer…all wiry and tan…yearning to juggle. He can toss chickens, catch doors, juggle cabbages…but he wants to do more!

Through the magic of rhythm, rhyme, and color author Jeanette Hopkins and artist Stormy Mochal capture young reader’s delight as they reveal the excitement of Henri, The Juggler, as he embarks upon his quest.

About the author and artist:
Jeanette Hopkins (also author our popular The LadyBug Waltz) is a semi-retired educator from elementary, middle school and college settings. She has developed a keen appreciation for the delight young readers have for rhythm and rhyme and encourages children of all ages to “chime” in when she is reading aloud. As a participant of the Iowa Writing Project Institutes and past board member of the Iowa Writing Project’s Advisory Board, she has learned the true value of a shared experience in reading and writing. Jeanette and her husband, author Bruce Hopkins, have spent the past two years presenting in elementary, highschool and college classrooms throughout the United States. They are environmentalists and enjoy day-tripping throughout the states. They live in Sioux City, Iowa, near family including 11adorable grandchildren…..her biggest fans and critique experts!

Living and working in Dubuque, Iowa, artist Stormy Mochal continues to be inspired by the ever-changing marvel of Iowa’s country. Having been an Iowan all her life it only seems natural that each of her images contain a little piece of country; farmhouses, starry-filled skies, birds.
